My name is Rebecca.
I'm a mindfulness instructor, a voice teacher, and an award-winning mezzo- soprano.
I'm whimsical, driven, goofy, scientific, and a little bit mystical. I'm also naturally a very high trait anxiety human being. Which is why even though my performance career was going well coming through the pandemic, I recognized that I needed a little extra help with my mind. That's when I found mindfulness meditation and began a daily mindfulness practice that has transformed the way I move in the world. In an event of wonderful synchronicity, around the same time, I also began teaching with SingSpire – a program that provides free voice lessons for singers with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic lung disease. By teaching with this program, I learned that singing is not just – or even mostly – about producing beautiful sounds. It can be about breathing and creating noises in the moment that improve ones mental, physical, and even spiritual health. Now we're here. I am convinced that we can use a combination of mindfulness, sound-making, and conscious movement to build trust within our own bodies and minds and enable ourselves to embody more honesty in the world. |
What you get with me.
I can list my certifications for you: Mindfulness Meditation Instructor through YogaRenew, Master in Public Health, M.M. in Opera Performance, certifications in peer and crisis counseling. I am qualified to teach sound making and breathing. I know how to talk to people and speak to their feelings.
But what you really get from me is a person who has been there.
I know intimately how eagerly the mind can disconnect from the body, and I know how powerful breath and sound can be in bringing them back into harmony. I have used these tools in my own life, and I have seen them work.
Are you ready to get started?
